Local artist, Sandra McKechnie held her first exhibition - 'Playtime' - at Food for Me on Saturday evening. In launching the exhibition, Sandra commented
"When I first picked up a paint brush and put it to canvas I was struck by the sense of freedom it provides. No goals to score no points to win, no one to win no one to lose and I realised it was, perhaps ever, the first time I had done something that didn't have an element of competition. What was that like? Weird!
So what has a year of freedom and play time with paint revealed? Judging by what has hit the canvas over the last year, playtime for me is all about flowers and big open spaces."
The launch was a success - lots of happy guests, fab food and fantastic pieces to view. You can check out the footage of Sandra's 'launch speech' as well view a few of her pieces . But it's best to do it live with a luscious cup of 'Essenza' coffee and some wicked caramel slice.
'Playtime' is on view at Food for Me in East Victoria Park until the 26th March. If you're a local artist wanting to exhibit or launch your work, please feel free to contact us via www.foodforme.com.au |
